Homemade Bread

In my opinion, one of the greatest pleasures in life is eating a slice of freshly-made warm buttered bread. What I love about this bread is that you can be in and out of the kitchen in about an hour with a gorgeous loaf. The bread itself is soft and moist with just a bit of chew.  It makes great sandwich bread so I obviously made some. :) I am so thankful for my friend Sybil (Eat The Picture on all social platforms) for sharing this recipe with me.

Avocado, Salsa, Olives, Egg, Tomatoes, Mayo and Pepper

Prep time: 90 minutes

Cook time: 25 minutes

Servings: 1 loaf

You will need:

2 3/4 cups all purpose flour

2 – 4 tbsp sugar

1 tsp salt

1 tbsp dry yeast

1 tbsp oil

1 1/4 cups warm water (not hot)

Procedure:

Mix dry ingredients. Add oil and water. Mix until the dough is very sticky. If it is too dry, add more water

Sticky Dough before kneading

Remove the dough from the bowl and knead the dough until smooth on a flat surface covered in flour.

After kneading

Return the dough to the bowl and cover bowl with cling film. Let dough rest in a ball for 60 minutes

After 60 minutes

Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. When loaves are ready to go into the oven, use a sharp knife (you can lightly oil your knife with cooking oil to prevent dragging) to make several slashes in the top. Make each cut about 1/4-inch deep. Bake the loaf for 25 minutes, or until it is golden brown

Take out for oven and let it sit for 15 minutes before serving

Enjoy! :)
